Heralded by many as the Spice Island, Grenada is famous for its nutmeg, ginger and vanilla as well as its tropical mountain forests and beautiful beaches. St George’s is the pretty and picturesque capital with its horseshoe harbour and from here you can sail over to neighbouring islands in the Grenadines. Yachts, schooners and water-taxis fill St. George’s harbour, the pastel-washed buildings of its picturesque ‘Carenage’ forming the perfect backdrop.

Cobbled streets climb the hill to take you out of town and into the scented centre of this sleepy Spice Island to cinnamon and nutmeg groves, waterfall cascades, dormant volcanoes draped in lush rainforests and a 30 acre blue lake cradled in a crater. At the island’s southwestern tip are the sands of the gorgeous Grand Anse beach, justly renowned for its white sands, snorkelling and scuba grounds. But summon the energy to explore the island a little further and you’ll find the south coast has several deserted stretches of bliss and nearby Carriacou, known as the ‘coral reef island’ rewards divers with a myriad of marine life. Grenada's lush and mountainous interior and abundant wildlife, along with the spectacular beaches and underwater exploration opportunities, makes the island a haven for outdoor lovers.

Unlike other islands, Grenada has made sure that the development is unobtrusive. By law, no hotel on the island can exceed three stories or the height of the palm trees nearby. Relaxing and peaceful, it is low on evening entertainment but fabulous for Caribbean cuisine and beautiful scenery, whilst the stunning beaches and bays will enhance your Caribbean experience on this precious gem.
