Virgin Islands holidays

Unspoilt and peaceful islands with truly breathtaking beaches – a refuge for sun lovers, sailors, fishermen and divers. The few dozen hotels are lowslung and scattered in secluded hideaways. On those islands which have roads (mostly narrow, paved single lanes), goats and cows compete with cars. Sweeping past most of the islands is the magnificent Sir Francis Drake Channel, where yachts have now replaced the pirate ships of olde, however, the yachtsman consider these sheltered waters to be some of the finest blue water cruising grounds in the Caribbean, as did the pirates before them – but for more peaceful reasons. Long sweeps of pale sand combined with lush green headlands, yachts anchored off in natural harbours, private island resorts in splendid seclusion… these are the hallmarks of the British Virgin Islands where tourism is still low key and luxury, while lavish, is always discreet.

With wonderful sailing opportunities it is possible to explore the uniqueness of each island and discover tucked-away coves and quirky beach bars. Also often called the ‘sailing capital’ of the Caribbean, the clear, calm waters make for a superb day’s sailing trip and it is possible to visit several islands in one day and find the perfect hideaway or beach at which to anchor. Underwater wrecks lie waiting to be explored, whilst above the grottos and caves of ‘the Baths’ of Virgin Gorda will delight.

Deserted beaches and spectacular scenery are the hallmark of these islands. A paradise for those looking to escape and forgot their troubles whilst relaxing on some of the most beautiful and idyllic beaches in the Caribbean.
